How to Print Your Order of Service
Files to supply
Please supply one print-ready PDF containing all pages in reading order as single pages, not spreads. If your booklet has a separate cover stock, include the cover pages in the same PDF in their correct reading order.
Please ensure all fonts are embedded within your PDF. Contact the 4edge team if you need help supplying your artwork.
Colour and image quality
For the best print results:
- Set artwork to CMYK colour
- Use images at 300 dpi
- Set black text to 100% black
- Convert greyscale artwork to greyscale before supplying it
RGB artwork can be converted to CMYK, but some colours may change during conversion.
Bleed and quiet areas
Where artwork runs to the edge of the page, add:
- 3 mm bleed around the outer edges
- A minimum 3 mm quiet area inside the trim edge
Keep names, dates, page numbers and other important content outside these areas.
Page count
Saddle stitched booklets are made from folded sheets, so the total page count must be in multiples of four. If your content does not fill the final four-page section, blank pages can be added where needed.
Lamination
Where lamination is selected, it is applied to the outer cover surface.
Before Supplying Your Artwork
Please check that:
- The artwork matches the quoted finished size
- The page count is a multiple of four
- Pages are supplied as single pages in reading order
- All fonts are embedded
- Bleed and quiet areas have been included
- Names, dates and service details have been checked carefully
- Any required blank pages are present
Please review your proof carefully before approving the order of service for print.

Based in Hockley, Essex, we print and finish order of service booklets in the UK using digital production and saddle stitched binding. Our team can support your project from artwork preparation and proofing through to printing, finishing and delivery.
Orders of service can be produced from as few as 10 copies, while print-ready files can be retained to make additional copies straightforward if required.
What is the minimum order for order of service printing?
4edge can print order of service booklets from as few as 10 copies, making short runs suitable for smaller services and memorials.
How many pages should an order of service have?
Most order of service booklets are 4, 8 or 12 pages, depending on the amount of content included. Because they are saddle stitched, the total page count must be in multiples of four.
What is the best size for an order of service?
A5 is the most commonly used size because it provides enough space for readings, hymns, photographs and service details while remaining easy to hold. A6 is a more compact option for shorter services.
Can I choose a custom order of service size?
Yes. 4edge can produce custom sizes by cutting down from standard industry sizes, such as A4, depending on your chosen specification.
How should I supply my order of service artwork?
Please supply one print-ready PDF with all pages in reading order as single pages, not spreads. Make sure the document has the correct number of pages, all fonts are embedded and any required bleed is included.
Can I use photographs in an order of service?
Yes. Photographs can be included throughout the booklet. For the best print quality, supply images at 300 dpi and check that they reproduce clearly in your final proof.
Can I check my order of service before printing?
Yes. Please review your proof carefully before approving the job for production, paying particular attention to names, dates, photographs, page order and service details.
How quickly can order of service booklets be printed?
4edge offers fast digital production for time-sensitive funeral and memorial printing. Turnaround depends on the quantity, specification and delivery requirements, so speak to the team as early as possible if you have a fixed service date.
Is VAT charged on printed orders of service?
No. Printed orders of service are normally zero-rated for VAT in the UK.
